2026-2027 Academic Year orientations completed

New academic year orientation programs, which started on September 7 with the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, were completed with other faculties at the Main Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall, Faculty of Health Sciences Ibn-i Sina Auditorium, and Çarşı Campus Emir Nebi Conference Hall.

Prof. Nazife Güngör: “You will guide society”
Within the scope of the Faculty of Communication Orientation program held at the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall, Prof. Nazife Güngör, Rector of Üsküdar University, also delivered a speech. Güngör stated; “Deciding to become a communicator is truly very serious. If you have decided to become a communicator, you need to work hard and read a lot, friends. Because you will guide society. To access accurate information, to correctly identify information sources, and to convey the information you obtain to society with the right style and narrative, you need to master information. For this, you need to be analytical, able to ask questions, question, and see a subject from different angles. You will first access information, process this information through your own mental filter, and then transmit it to society. Therefore, to be good communicators and good media professionals, we will read a lot, work hard, and learn foreign languages as much as possible. Because we now live in a global world and we must be visionary.”

Prof. Gül Esra Atalay: “To be a communicator means to be creative”
Students of the Faculty of Communication also gathered within the scope of the programs where information about the university's entire operation and activities was conveyed. The opening speech of the orientation program was delivered by Prof. Gül Esra Atalay, Dean of the Faculty of Communication.
Atalay stated; “Being a university student is not something that can be limited to just a diploma. That diploma will certainly be obtained, but my advice to you is to enjoy being a university student here and to make the most of it. University life is not just spent in classrooms and exams. Meeting people with stories very different from your own, getting to know them, and trying to understand them is also a part of being a university student. To be a communicator means to be creative. We do creative work. Therefore, we contribute to our profession not only with what we learn from books but with everything we experience. Explore Istanbul, meet different people, and encounter different experiences. The more diverse experiences you have, the more ideas and inspiration you will gain for this profession.”

Prof. Deniz Ülke Kaynak: “It is very important to learn how to use the information you acquire”
During the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences orientation, general information about the faculty was provided. The opening speech of the program was delivered by Prof. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Kaynak stated; “A university is not a place where you just come to get information and leave. The world has changed a lot, and so has the relationship between information and humans. If you all have a phone or a mobile device, we must acknowledge that there is much more information available than what we possess. You carry Harvard's, Stanford's library in your pocket. From that perspective, the main issue is not accessing information. What we need to provide you with is to teach you how to filter out the correct, clean, and unbiased information from all this knowledge and to educate students who can create their own syntheses from all this information. It is very beneficial for us that you analyze, evaluate, and especially question the information you acquire. Learning how to use the information you acquire is very important.”

Instructor Dilek Batur: “We believe in lifelong learning”
The opening speeches of the Foreign Languages and Preparatory Program orientation programs were delivered by Instructor Dilek Batur, Coordinator of Foreign Languages.
Batur stated; “What we are trying to do is not just teach English. In addition to English, we aim to ensure that you grow into active, dynamic, energetic individuals who are respectful towards people and adhere to ethical rules. Because in the preparatory program, you first learn to be a university student. You need to learn this properly to be successful in the faculty. The Eaquals accreditation provides us with an international framework that shows us how well we are doing and what else we need to do. In this direction, we continuously strive to improve ourselves. Because we believe in lifelong learning.”

Prof. Osman Çerezci: “We will work to help you advance in your careers”
The opening speeches for the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences orientation were delivered by Prof. Osman Çerezci. Çerezci stated; “We congratulate our students who achieved this success. We are here to help you achieve the same success at a higher level. As our academic staff, we will work to give you the best, even better, and to help you advance in your careers. Of course, your effort and hard work are also very important in this career journey. This task does not fall solely on us. We will progress towards our goal within a framework of partnership and understanding. We are here to help you in every way on your university journey, not only with our academic staff but also with our administrative staff.”

That's why we strive to educate our students with our excellent instructors, qualified staff, good opportunities, and solid infrastructure services.”

The Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) orientation program took place at Çarşı Campus. The opening speeches of the program were delivered by Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO).
