Evaluating the absence of vacant quotas in associate degree programs at state universities, Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş stated, “Factors such as graduating in a shorter time, like two years, and entering professional life, the increasing need for mid-level vocational staff day by day, and economic conditions have heightened this year's candidates' interest in associate degree programs.”

The 2024-YKS placement results have been announced. Candidates who have gained the right to enroll in a program based on the 2024-YKS results can complete their registration between August 19-23, and electronic registrations can be made between August 19-21.

Üsküdar University Preference and Career Counselor, Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş, evaluated this year's placement results.

This year, candidates' interest in associate degree programs has increased…

Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş stated that out of 2,755,301 candidates whose placement scores were calculated, 1,670,205 candidates made preferences. “This year, similar to the 2023-YKS placement results, 1 million candidates did not make preferences. In state and foundation universities, 20,826 quotas remained vacant in undergraduate programs and 2,912 in associate degree programs. What is striking here is that while there were no vacant quotas in associate degree programs at state universities, 2,912 quotas remained vacant at foundation universities. Factors such as graduating in a shorter time, like two years, and entering professional life, the increasing need for mid-level vocational staff day by day, and economic conditions have heightened this year's candidates' interest in associate degree programs.”

Registrations will be made between August 19-23

Expert Psychological Counselor Ece Tözeniş stated that the registrations for placed candidates would take place between August 19-23, and told the candidates the following:

“You have put in a lot of effort and made sacrifices regarding your life; now it's time to become a university student! To be both preferred and a preferrer, invest in yourself and your professional education until you graduate from university. Learn languages, don't miss the Erasmus opportunity, conferences, congresses, and events related to your professional development. While doing these, don't forget to have fun. Your best years will be at university before you embark on your professional life.”

“Remember, this is your life, and life is a choice!”

Tözeniş also offered advice to candidates who could not be placed, “For those who could not be placed, there is another chance: additional quotas. After university registrations, a new placement will be made for the quotas that remained vacant after the initial placement and registrations. You can seize another opportunity by reviewing the guide to additional placements that will be published by ÖSYM. For those who decided to defer a year, there is a long road ahead; the sooner you start studying, the sooner you will see the results of your efforts. Regardless of the joy of placement, the sadness of not being placed, or the decision to defer a year, remember that this is your life, and life is a choice,” he said.
