Organized by Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Audiology, with contributions from Erişçi Academy, the “Electrophysiology Days I” event was held. The opening speech of the event, which took place in the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall and was attended by important figures in the field, was delivered by Dr. Didem Şahin Ceylan, Head of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Audiology. Ceylan stated that they have implemented many pioneering projects in the field of audiology in Turkey.

“We have done many things that we can call pioneering in the field of audiology in Turkey.”

Dr. Didem Şahin Ceylan, Head of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Audiology, spoke about the dynamic structure of the audiology department's staff and the impactful events held in the audiology community. Ceylan said; “We are a very small and young team, and we are generally proud of that. This youthfulness, therefore, translates into energy in the clinic and for our students. We may be the first department to go into the laboratory from the first year, with the highest number of practical lessons. As a department, we utilized this energetic structure in the clinic, striving to do things both by having fun and learning. We have done many things that we can call pioneering in the field of audiology in Turkey. There are significant events that have made an impact in the audiology community in Turkey; we held a tinnitus symposium. Thinking 'it will be useful in the clinic,' which is now our trademark, and in a committee we formed with students, we considered what kind of presentations we would like if we were students sitting where you are now. With this empathetic approach, and a concept like 'it will be useful in the clinic,' we organized an event that focused more on practice than theory, where things truly needed in the clinic were showcased, transforming it into a kind of laboratory. We received such positive feedback that we held the second one a year later. These are generally student-based events. With the slogan 'See what we, not just our professors, are doing,' we also organized theoretical events where everything, from speakers to moderators and presenters, was organized by the students themselves. The energy contributed by academics and audiology students, and their motivation, is a major factor in the success we achieve together with them,” she concluded.

A total of five sessions were held

In the first session of the event, which consisted of five sessions in total, Specialist Audiologist Yeter Saçlı presented on ‘Introduction to ABR,’ Specialist Audiologist Murat Erinç on ‘Factors Affecting Wave Morphology in ABR,’ and Specialist Audiologist Recai Arslantaş on ‘Technical Issues in ABR.’
