Üsküdar Study and Article Analysis Study Groups Gathers Together Online…
Üsküdar Study Group, formed by Üsküdar University Social Sciences Institute Clinical Psychology Graduate Program students, came together for the first time.
The group, which does not see any obstacles to producing due to the pandemic conditions, held an online meeting to increase their sharing, to carry out new studies and to share their experiences with each other. The study group plans to carry out book and film analyzes, case presentations and many other activities.
Üsküdar Study Group started its activities with the analysis of the book “The Boy who was Raised as a Dog” by Bruce D. Perry & Maia Szalavitz.
“The most therapeutic experiences are not in therapy, but in healthy relationships that develop naturally.”
In the book analysis, it was emphasized that the most effective treatment to be applied to children who were traumatized is everything that can be done to increase the quality and number of relationships in the child's life. It was also expressed how effective it would be to bring together disparate groups (even if they have conflicting goals). It was emphasized that relationships are important, that there is a need for trust in relationships in order for systemic changes to occur, and that trust is based on establishing healthy relationships.

In article analysis, it is aimed to gain the ability to renew professional knowledge, follow current developments, have a good grasp of the literature and interpret statistical data.

In his presentation, Önür emphasized that, the role of social support is very important in reaching the psychosocial adjustment level of a person, who is a social being, according to the research findings.

Hasret Karakuş presented the article titled “Comparison of Dissociation and Childhood Traumas in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Patients with Healthy Volunteers”. Karakuş stated that, 70% of OCD patients have at least one type of childhood trauma according to the research findings.
