Üsküdar strengthens its administrative staff with artificial intelligence training

Üsküdar University’s Department of Human Resources, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Software Engineering Department, organized a comprehensive 3-week artificial intelligence (AI) training program for senior administrative staff as part of its digital transformation vision. The training covered fundamental concepts of AI, its applications in higher education institutions, and various AI tools. Special emphasis was placed on data visualization and interpretation during the hands-on workshops.

Focus on Üsküdar University’s AI vision

The 3-week training program held at the Main Campus Kuleli Hall kicked off with a session led by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Furkan Tarhan, titled “Corporate Big Data Management and Üsküdar University’s AI Vision.” In his speech, Tarhan underlined the necessity of AI technologies in education and healthcare in today’s world.

Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel: “Our goal is to help you save time”

Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel delivered a session titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence,” where he provided in-depth insights into what AI is, why it matters, and its key concepts. He stated, “Our aim here is to help you process and utilize your data effectively, saving you time in the process. We also believe this will help improve time management and overall work efficiency.” Prof. Ergüzel also introduced the NP-Model application and TMU treatment, developed jointly by Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital, both of which have been submitted for international patent registration.

Applications of AI in universities discussed

In the second part of the training, Asst. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz from the Software Engineering Department, Hüseyin Hakan Özdemir, Head of the Department of Digital Technologies and Software, and Murat Gülşen, Head of the Information Technologies Department, presented on the use of AI in universities. Their presentations, enriched with corporate data management strategies, data strategies, and real-life university applications, were supported by needs analyses conducted with senior management.

Emphasis on visualization and interpretation

One of the key components of the training, which was conducted in two separate groups over three weeks, was the practical workshops. These sessions introduced participants to text, image, video, and productivity-based AI tools, including hands-on practice with prompt engineering using ChatGPT. The tool-based training particularly emphasized data visualization and interpretation.

In the second week of the training, topics such as reporting, data visualization, and data analysis were explored in greater depth. The sessions led by Asst. Prof. Mehmet Kaan İldiz were supported by practical examples demonstrating how to derive meaningful insights from data. The training concluded with a certificate ceremony, marking the end of a program enriched by hands-on workshops.

The program, completed with the active participation of attendees, aimed to enhance the technological competencies of administrative staff as part of the university’s digital transformation journey. Through such initiatives, Üsküdar University strives to both boost institutional efficiency and integrate the digital competencies required by the modern era into its organizational structure.
