Üsküdar Communication wins three awards at the 34th Young Communicators Competition

At the 34th Young Communicators Competition, organized in collaboration with the Turkish Journalists Association and the Aydın Doğan Foundation, students from Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Communication won three awards. Üsküdar students, who received one outstanding achievement award and two second-place awards in the Internet publishing category, once again brought great pride to their university.

The 34th Young Communicators Competition award ceremony was held at the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel.

A total of 59 students from the communication faculties of 18 universities, including Üsküdar University, received their awards at the ceremony.

The event was attended by Aydın Doğan, Founder of the Aydın Doğan Foundation and Honorary President of Doğan Holding, Vahap Munyar, President of the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC), Candan Fetvacı, Chair of the Aydın Doğan Foundation Executive Board, Sibel Güneş, TGC Secretary General; members of the TGC Board of Directors; deans and faculty members from the award-winning universities, as well as the award-winning students.

Those who were representing Üsküdar University at the ceremony are as follows: Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, Head of the Journalism Department Prof. Süleyman İrvan, Head of the New Media and Communication Department Assoc. Prof. Gül Esra Atalay, and Visual Communication Design Department Faculty Member Asst. Prof. Nuray Ergindir Küçükkaya.

Outstanding Achievement Award for the Project "Unnecessary Sensitivity Towards the Individuals with Visual Impairments"

Serdar Karan, a student from the New Media and Communication Department of Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Communication, won the outstanding achievement award in the internet publishing category with his podcast project titled "Unnecessary Sensitivity Towards the Individuals with Visual Impairments", prepared under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Sadettin Demirel.

Serdar Karan received his award from Candan Fetvacı, Chair of the Aydın Doğan Foundation Executive Board.

Second-Place Award for the Website "The Conspiracy of Fabric"

İlayda Savaş, a student from the Visual Communication Design Department at Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Communication, won second place with her website project "Doku Komplosu" (The Conspiracy of Fabric) which was prepared under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Cem Tutar.

İlayda Savaş received her award from TGC Board Member and Milliyet newspaper Managing Editor Pınar Aktaş.

Second-Place Award for the Internet News Article "The Resistance of Green: Türkiye's Environmental Struggle"

Şahin Deniz, a student from the Journalism Department at Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Communication, won second place with his internet news article titled "The Resistance of Green: Türkiye's Environmental Struggle", prepared under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Sadettin Demirel.

Plaques were presented to Deans

After the awards were presented to the successful communicators, plaques were given to the deans of the award-winning communication faculties. Üsküdar University Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Nazife Güngör, received her plaque from TGC President Vahap Munyar alongside the other deans.
