The 10th "Meşkure Sargut Memorial Program" was held at Üsküdar University
The 10th "Meşkure Sargut Memorial Program," organized this year by Üsküdar University, the Institute for Sufism Studies, the Kerim Foundation, and TÜRKKAD, was held under the theme “The Guide in the Heart of the Disciple, the Disciple in the Heart of the Guide.”
The opening speech was delivered by Cemalnur Sargut, the Advisor to the Rector of Üsküdar University. The honored guest, Prof. Mustafa Kara, spoke about the theme of the day. Two panels were conducted during the program, led by Dr. Asuman Kulaksız and Asst. Prof. H. Dilek Güldütuna.
Cemalnur Sargut: “There is no greater blessing than loving the beloved of Allah.”
In her opening speech, Cemalnur Sargut, the Advisor to the Rector of Üsküdar University, shared her feelings about her mother, Meşkure Sargut, with the following remarks: “We, as two siblings, are truly the happiest and luckiest siblings in the world. We lived together with three different guides, each showing us different paths. The guides who taught us were not those who simply told us, but those who lived by their teachings. We learned the morals of the Prophet from them, and living with such great figures was both a great pleasure and equally difficult. There is no greater blessing than loving the beloved of Allah.”
Prof. Mustafa Kara: “Every awakening begins with an awareness.”
The honored guest, Prof. Mustafa Kara, spoke about the impact of Sufism on the human soul in his speech titled “The Guide in the Heart of the Disciple, the Disciple in the Heart of the Guide.” Kara pointed out that the Sufi journey has been classified in various ways by different great figures and stated that “Some speak of three stages (Sharia, Tariqa, Haqiqa), others mention four (adding Marifa), and some speak of seven, ten, forty, or even more stages. What matters is not the system we follow, but our intention to embark on this journey. Every awakening begins with an awareness. May Allah awaken us from the sleep of heedlessness and enlighten us with the light of truth.”
Remembering Meşkure Sargut with Memories…
The memorial program continued with a session moderated by Dr. Asuman Kulaksız. Kerim Güç and Gamze Güç shared their memories of their grandmother, Meşkure Sargut, in their talk titled "Memories of Meşkure Sargut." The last speaker of the panel, Assistant Director of the Institute, Asst. Prof. Cangüzel Güner Zülfikar, delivered a speech titled “Meşkure Sargut: Addressing Emotional Hearts.”
