Üsküdar University has taken a new step in expanding its pioneering model projects in the field of social innovation with an international vision by initiating a new beginning in Qatar. The project launching meetings held in Qatar created an important platform that brought together the cultural and scientific values of Turkish and Qatari societies, strengthening the ties between the two countries. Hosted by the Qatari Ambassador, the meetings saw strategic collaboration steps taken with prestigious institutions such as the Yunus Emre Institute, Qatar Foundation, and Doha University.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “Social innovation is not only about solving societal problems”

President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarha emphasized the significance of social innovation projects and stated that “Social innovation is not only about solving societal problems but also serves as a tool to strengthen understanding and solidarity between communities.”

Dr. Nebiye Yaşar: “Social innovation is about building a lasting bridge between cultures”

Üsküdar University Young Minds Academy Director Dr. Nebiye Yaşar led the project kick-off meetings, delivering presentations on the transformative power of social innovation on societies. During the sessions held at the Yunus Emre Institute in Qatar with the support of the Qatari Embassy, it was emphasized that social innovation projects could enhance the well-being of both countries through human-centered solutions. Highlighting the human aspect of these initiatives, Dr. Yaşar stated that “Social innovation is not just about solving societal problems but also about building a lasting bridge between cultures and creating value.”

A global approach to social innovation

Within the framework of its social innovation model, Üsküdar University is directing its projects toward Qatar’s social and cultural needs. The projects aim to provide solutions across a broad spectrum, from education to health, from culture to technology.

One of the key focal points of the project meetings was discussing the potential of transferring Üsküdar University’s knowledge and experience in social innovation to Qatar to address its societal challenges. In this context, the foundations of innovative educational programs and social projects, particularly aimed at younger generations, were laid.

Aiming for a long-term dialogue between the two countries

Through collaborations with the Yunus Emre Institute, projects ranging from Turkish language education to artistic events aim to establish a long-term dialogue between the two countries through culture and art. This partnership is also expected to contribute to the mutual recognition and sharing of cultural heritage.

Launched with the motto “People First”

The human-centered project was launched with the motto “People First”, aiming to create social value. These strategic collaborations will establish a lasting social and scientific bridge between Qatar and Türkiye, enabling both societies to move forward more strongly toward common goals.
