Breast Cancer Awareness Highlighted
An event titled "Breast Cancer Awareness" was organized by the Pathology Laboratory Techniques program of the Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School (VSHS). The event covered topics such as early diagnosis of breast cancer, the importance of mammography, and other related issues. The importance of imaging methods and pathology in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up procedures for breast cancer was also emphasized.
The event, held at the Emir Nebi Conference Hall at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus, was attended by students from the Pathology Laboratory Techniques program and the Medical Imaging Techniques program.
The event was moderated by Instructor Eda Yetimoğlu, the Head of the Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program at the Health Services Vocational School (VSHS) at Üsküdar University.
Dr. Zafer Akşit, a Radiology Specialist from Yeditepe University Hospital, participated as a speaker. Akşit shared insights with the participants on early diagnosis and the importance of mammography in breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Deaths Could Decrease by 50%!
Akşit provided information about the practices prior to 1975, when breast cancer screening programs began, and discussed the current screening programs for breast cancer. He noted that self-examination, breast ultrasound, and mammography are all part of modern screening programs. He also highlighted that, thanks to the success of mammography screenings, breast cancer-related deaths have decreased by 50%.
The Importance of Pathology in Breast Cancer
Akşit emphasized the significant role of imaging techniques and pathology in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of breast cancer. He particularly pointed out the importance of current imaging techniques and mega cassette processes applied in pathology laboratories in the diagnosis of breast cancer.
The event concluded after the participants had their questions answered.
