Two more programs of Üsküdar Communication are in the process of accreditation
The ILEDAK evaluation team, which carries out the accreditation evaluation processes of programs in the field of communication on behalf of the Communication Research Association (ILAD), made an institutional visit to Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication.
A visit was made to the venue on the first day
On the first day of the visit, the ILEDAK Evaluation Team, consisting of Team Chair Prof. Senem Duruel Erkılıç and Team Co-Chair ProfSevimece Karadoğan Doruk, Radio, Television and Cinema program evaluators Prof. Ruken Öztürk and Prof. Nihan Gider Işıkman, Public Relations and Publicity program evaluators Prof. Şebnem Çağlar and Assoc. Prof. Özlem Akkaya, and student evaluator İlayda Dal, visited the Faculty of Communication. During this visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Süleyman İrvan, made a presentation introducing the faculty. Then, Assoc. Prof. Esennur Sirer, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, and Assoc. Prof. Özge Uğurlu Akbaş, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, made presentations introducing their departments. President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, University Secretary General Selçuk Uysaler, Deputy Secretary General Asil Barış, Head of Personnel Department Serdar Karagöz, Head of Corporate Communications Department Tahsin Aksu, Head of Information Technologies Department Murat Gülşen, Head of Library and Documentation Department Sinan Eker, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Bahar Muratoğlu Pehlivan, Faculty Secretary Ayşe Gül Okkıran and faculty members of the departments attended.
After the presentations, the evaluation team visited the faculty's computer laboratories, classrooms, workshops, faculty members' offices and television studios and received information about the venues.
Meetings were held on the second day
The ILEDAK evaluation team completed the second day of the visit with document review and interviews. Chair of the Team Prof. Senem Duruel Erkılıç and Team Co-Chair Prof. Sevimece Karadoğan Doruk first met with Dean Prof. Süleyman İrvan and then with Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, Vice-Rectors Prof. Sevil Atasoy and Prof. Muhsin Konuk. Later, they received information from the directors of the administrative units of the university, Cumhur Bakır, Serdar Karagöz, Peyman Jaferi, Özcan Demir, Murat Gülşen, Tahsin Aksu, Sinan Eker, Remziye Çopur and Ayşe Öztürk.
Radio, Television and Cinema program evaluators Prof. Ruken Öztürk and Prof. Nihan Gider Işıkman, with the head of the department, Assoc. Prof. Esennur Sirer. Public Relations and Publicity program evaluators Prof. Şebnem Çağlar and Assoc. Prof. Özlem Akkaya also met with Assoc. Prof. Özge Uğurlu Akbaş. The program evaluators then conducted separate interviews with faculty members, research assistants, students, alumni and external stakeholders of the departments. Student evaluator İlayda Dal also conducted interviews with the students.
Evaluation reports were presented at the exit interview
On the third and last day of the institution's visit, İLEDAK program evaluation teams read their reports based on their observations and evaluations at the meeting attended by Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör and then submitted the relevant page of the reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. DSüleyman İrvan.
The secretary general of the university, heads of departments and faculty members of the departments were also present at the exit interview.
The process is ongoing
In the next period, ILEDAK management will also examine the report and submit it to the ILAD Board of Directors for a decision. The final decision on accreditation will be made by the ILAD Board of Directors in the light of the report and recommendation of the evaluation team. The process is expected to be completed within two months.
