Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Orthopedic Prosthesis and Orthotics Department graduate students came together with the students. Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Department graduates Selçuk Sunar and Güneş Ecenaz Koca attended the event as guests.

The event drew attention by the participants, which was held in the Çarşı Campus Emir Nebi-2 conference hall.

Selçuk Sunar: "Taking care of patients gives them a sense of trust"

Selçuk Sunar, a graduate of the Department of Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics, gave advice to the participating students as follows: "Patients' previous conditions need to be well evaluated. Have they undergone surgery? Have they had a prosthesis or orthotics before?' It is important to give accurate information to patients and to speak well. Taking care of patients and listening to them gives a sense of trust. If we cannot create a sense of trust in the patient, patients do not use their orthoses and prostheses."

Sunar, who gave a variety of advice for students, said: "Volunteer an internship in workshops to gain experience. In addition to manual labor, it is necessary to be prone to trade. It is important to market the prosthesis and the orthotics.",

Güneş Ecenaz Koca: "Our department is a profession that requires patience and manual workmanship"

Emphasizing the importance of disciplined and planned work in the workshop, Güneş Ecenaz Koca, a graduate of the Department of Orthopedic Prosthesis and Orthotics; said "Our department is a profession that requires patience and manual labor. The weight of the patients is important for the use of orthoses and prostheses. Whether they have allergic conditions or not should be thoroughly evaluated. The economic status of the patients is also important in order to meet the prosthesis and orthosis."

"Patients attach importance to aesthetic design"

About the psychological conditions experienced in patients, Koca stated that "This is a difficult situation for patients. Prosthetic patients accept or do not accept amputee, that is, limb loss. Patients attach importance to aesthetic design. The perspective of the environment, looking at their bodies affects the patients. The approach of the patient's relatives is important for our patient because some relatives of the patient may have more difficulty accepting the situation than the patient. The approach of the family in pediatric patients is an important factor in children's acceptance of prosthesis and orthosis."

The event ended with the presentation of certificate of appreciation to the speakers and a group photo.
