Üsküdar University held an online conference on "The Principle of Equality on the Basis of Human Rights and the Prohibition of Discrimination"

The conference was moderated by Prof. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, who is Director of Üsküdar University Human Rights Studies Application and Research Center (İHAMER) and faculty member of the Department of Sociology, and Dr. Özgür Aydın, who is a faculty member of Akdeniz University Faculty of Law Department of General Public Law, participated as a speaker. In the program, where the foundations of discrimination were discussed in terms of human rights philosophy and positive regulations, Dr. Aydın focused on examples from the judicial decisions of the ECHR and the Constitutional Court.

Dr. Aydın stated that the prohibition of discrimination and the principle of equality are the basic components of international human rights law and are important in terms of benefiting from and implementing economic, social and cultural rights.

Stating that Article 10 of the Constitution guarantees that everyone can benefit from rights and freedom without discrimination with the principle of equality and the prohibition of discrimination, Dr. Aydın talked about the importance of HREIT in the fight against discrimination.

At the end of the conference, the issues related to legal and administrative struggle in case of discrimination were evaluated in line with the questions of the students.
