Director of the Vocational School of Health Services Prof. Mesut Karahan took part as a researcher in te project titled "Manufacture and Evaluation of Chitosan-Based In Situ Hydrogels Enriched with Chondroitin Sulfate Enhanced with Ferulic Acid for Cellular Regeneration" which was entitled to be supported by UCSI University Research Excellence & Innovation Grant (REIG). The project aims to find a treatment method that can heal tissue quickly.

"We aim to find a treatment method that can heal tissue quickly"

In cooperation with Üsküdar University and UCSI University in Malaysia, it is aimed to develop a new generation drug formulation that can be used in the treatment of difficult to heal and deep diabetic wounds in the future. Giving information about the project, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services Prof. Mesut Karahan stated that they aimed to affect the target tissue in the desired time frame. Karahan said that "Controlled drug release by enriching the hydrogels to be created with chitosan-based chondroitin sulfate and ferulic acid and targeting the drug to the wound area will be very useful in the future, especially in the treatment of deep wounds due to diabetes. In the light of this project, it is aimed to enrich it with materials that will contribute to cellular regeneration only to affect the target tissue in the desired time frame while it is aimed to treat more effectively by going to the place where innovative systems will be effective. In this way, we aim to find a new treatment method that can heal tissue quickly for people whose wounds do not heal and who suffer from severe pain.".

It is aimed to develop a technological production in wound treatment...

Expressing his contentment to be a part of such a project, Prof. Mesut Karahan stated that "Thanks to the scientific project cooperation of Üsküdar University with UCSI University of Malaysia, we aim to implement a project that will develop a technological production that can be used in wound treatment in the laboratories of our university. I am very glad to be a part of such a project."
