Turkey’s first “Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory” inaugurated at Üsküdar University
Üsküdar University Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory and Training Area, is inaugurated at Üsküdar University. Turkey’s first Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory is inaugurated by the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk.
"Prof. Hilmi Sabuncu Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory and Training Field”, being a first of its kind in Turkey, was inaugurated on April 19, 2019 at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus.
Inauguration was conducted by the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk
The Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, who attended the 6. Science and Idea Festival Award Ceremony, also inaugurated Turkey’s first Occupational Safety and Health Laboratory. Minister Selçuk toured the laboratory and received information. Minister Selçuk also took pictures with OHS students while wearing barette.
“It is not possible to train individuals in this area through distance education”
Üsküdar University Facultyof Health Sciences, Head of Occupational Health and Safety Department Asst. Prof. Rüştü Uçan, stated the following:
“The inauguration of ‘Prof. Hilmi Sabuncu Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory and Training Field’ is conducted today with the participation of the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk. Practical training will be offered in this laboratory as Turkey’s first laboratory and training field in this area.”
“Practical training in OHS is crucial”
Üsküdar University President Prof. Nevzat Tarhan mentioned the following;
“Since Occupational Health and Safety training is directly related to human health, distance education should be supported with practical training. Ideally, the training should be practiced. This laboratory that is being inaugurated, is very important in this sense. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to ‘Prof. Hilmi Sabuncu Occupational Safety and Health Laboratory and Training Field’.”
