Hüseyin Cahit YALÇIN

Born on December 7, 1875 in Balıkesir, Hüseyin Cahit Yalçın was born into a family of Istanbul origin. His father, Ali Rıza Efendi, was a middling finance officer. After completing his primary education in Istanbul and secondary education in Serez, Hüseyin Cahit attended high school at Dersaadet İdadisi in Istanbul and then started his higher education at Mekteb-i Mülkiye. During his student years, his interest in literature gradually increased and he published his first novel "Nâdide" in 1891. He stepped into the literary life especially through the magazine Servet-i Fünun and soon joined the Edebiyat-ı Cedide community.
