At the talk and workshop titled "Animation Production Processes with Artificial Intelligence" organized by our department, Siyah Martı Animation Studio representatives Osman Sentatoğlu and Abdurrahman Tunçay met with students. The effects of artificial intelligence on the animation industry, the transformative power of art, and future production processes were discussed during the event.

The event, held at the Üsküdar University South Campus Design Laboratory, was attended by Siyah Martı Advertising & Animation Studios Animation Director Osman Sentatoğlu and 3D Generalist Abdurrahman Tunçay. Sharing their experiences with the students, the industry professionals emphasized that artificial intelligence is not a threat but a significant opportunity in the field of animation.

"We must learn artificial intelligence instead of resisting it."

Animation Director Osman Sentatoğlu stated that artificial intelligence is actually the result of technological knowledge accumulated over many years, making this transformation inevitable. Pointing out that AI technologies have developed rapidly in recent years, Sentatoğlu noted that a large part of the industry has adapted to this transformation. Sentatoğlu expressed, "Artificial intelligence has now become a tool that we all have to learn. However, instead of being afraid of it, we need to learn how to use it correctly. Technology is creating a major transformation in the fields of art and animation, just as it does in every industry. AI offers a significant opportunity not to replace artists, but to increase their production power and support their creative processes. What will make the real difference is, again, human creativity, imagination, artistic perspective, and the story to be told. It is artists who will pass the stories of people, nature, and life on to future generations.

The most important power of art is its ability to foster empathy in people and to make different lives and experiences visible. Today's students will be able to overcome many technical processes that took us years to learn in a much shorter time, thanks to AI. This will allow them to devote time to producing, thinking, and developing creative ideas rather than focusing on technical details. For this reason, it is of great importance for young people to be open to change, to continuously improve themselves, and to integrate new technologies into their production processes."

Following the Q&A session with the students, Siyah Martı's animation works and projects developed with AI were introduced. The event concluded with a workshop featuring a short animation practice.
