Üsküdar University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, is organizing a visionary conference titled "The Role of Green Finance in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" to examine the radical transformation of the financial world in line with the global climate crisis and environmental sustainability targets from an academic perspective. Reflecting our university's vision of academic depth and universal responsibility, this meeting will be held within the scope of the "University Culture" course.
Green finance is a strategic discipline encompassing investment instruments aimed at supporting environmentally sustainable projects, reducing carbon footprints, and protecting biodiversity. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is of vital importance for the financial sector to move beyond being a passive tool and become a proactive agent of change. At the conference, a wide range of topics—from green bonds to environmentally conscious investment funds—will be scrutinized with academic rigor, focusing on how economic growth can be realized without ignoring environmental costs.
The guest speaker for the event will be Oleksandra Tverezovska, who is well-known for her work in this field. Ms. Tverezovska will share with the participants current trends in global financial markets, financial models aligned with SDG targets, and how economic barriers to sustainable development can be overcome through green finance methods.
