An Inspiring Talk on Medical Translation and Career Planning, Hosted by ÜÇEV

On December 24, 2025, as part of an event organized by Üsküdar University’s Translation Club (ÜÇEV), Sezgin Bahadır met with our students. Bahadır works as a Medical Translator and Interpreter within the Vehbi Koç Foundation’s Koç Healthcare Institutions and brings many years of experience in the field of medical translation. The talk drew strong attendance and addressed a range of key topics, with a particular focus on the medical translation sector and career management.

The session explored the dynamics of the medical translation industry, clinical research, and the translator’s responsibilities in healthcare settings. Drawing on examples from his experience in hospitals and international institutions, Bahadır highlighted the importance of specialization, strong command of terminology, and ethical responsibility.

In the career management segment, the discussion focused on choosing a specialization, freelance versus in-house work models, using translation technologies, and building visibility in the industry. He responded to students’ career-focused questions and shared practical guidance for entering and developing within the profession.

Overall, the event was a productive meeting that strengthened students’ awareness of medical translation and offered meaningful support for their career development.
