Myth and Media

The Fall Semester Closing Lecture of the 2025–2026 Academic Year, jointly organized by the New Media and Communication (English), New Media and Communication, MA Program in New Media and Journalism, and PhD Program in New Media and Communication at Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Communication, was held online with Professor Peppino Ortoleva from the University of Turin as the guest speaker.

In his presentation titled “Myth and Media,” Prof. Ortoleva revisited the concept of myth through the lens of high- and low-intensity narratives, emphasizing their broad sphere of influence—from sacred texts to popular culture. Enriched with examples from the cinema and television industries, the talk concluded with a Q&A session that also addressed the role of artificial intelligence in contemporary media narratives.
