American experimental psychologist and learning theorist. His work has focused on the fundamental determinants of habits and associative learning. Pavlovian Conditioning: He is one of the authors of the Rescorla-Wagner model. In addition, he has conducted research on standard operating procedures and associative learning. Wagner, who completed his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in 1959, served at Yale University until his death. In 1999, he was awarded the APA’s “Distinguished Scientific Contribution” award for his work.
