Üsküdar University, is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users. This statement outlines our efforts to comply with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Scope

This accessibility statement covers all pages published at our website. It applies to language versions: Turkish and English.

Conformance Standard

Our website is designed and developed to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This standard is set by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) as the international benchmark for web accessibility.

• Descriptive alternative text (alt text) is provided for all images.
• Heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3) is structured sequentially and consistently.
• Color contrast meets the WCAG AA minimum ratio of 4.5:1.
• Full keyboard navigation support (Tab, Enter, Escape).
• Skip-to-content link is provided for keyboard users.
• Visible focus indicators (focus-visible) are present on all interactive elements.
• ARIA labels (aria-label) are used on social media icon links.
• Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers with aria-hidden="true".
• The lang attribute is correctly set on the HTML element.
• Touch targets have sufficient size and spacing.
• Pages are usable without pinch-to-zoom restrictions.
• ARIA roles and attributes are used in accordance with W3C standards.
• All external links include rel="noopener noreferrer" for security.

Our website is regularly tested using the following tools:

            Automated accessibility testing

Known Limitations

Embedded media in CMS-published news articles (third-party video players, social media embeds) may not be fully under our control. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of such content.
