Dr. Tuğba Köse graduated from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Technical University in 2011. She completed her master's degree in 2014 at the Istanbul University Experimental Medicine Research Institute with a thesis titled “Investigation of HNF1A Gene Mutations in Turkish Population.” She earned her Ph.D. in 2022 from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul University, with a thesis on “Expression Analysis of MMP2 and TIMP2 Genes in Patients with Aortic Dissection.”
Dr. Köse worked as a research assistant at the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering at Istanbul Bilgi University from 2013 to 2021. Between 2022 and 2025, she served as a part-time lecturer in the same department. Since the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, she has been teaching undergraduate courses at various universities. The courses she teaches include Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology and Genetics, and Forensic Genetics.
Her research interests encompass the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases, the role of matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors, the association of genetic variants with metabolic syndrome and other diseases, the effects of microRNAs in disease processes, gene expression analysis, and biomarker discovery.
