Prof. Salim Şentürk, MD was born in 1982 in Trabzon. He graduated from Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine in 2005.

Between 2007 and 2013, he completed his specialization training in Neurosurgery at Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. He also completed four years of courses organized by the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies. He fulfilled his compulsory service at Çorum Training and Research Hospital between 2013 and 2014. From 2014 to 2018, he worked as a neurosurgeon at Koç University Hospital. In 2018–2019, he attended training programs at the University of California San Francisco (USA) Spine Center, and in 2019, he participated in observership and trainings at Rhode Island Hospital (USA). From July 2019 to September 2024, Dr. Salim Şentürk worked at Memorial Healthcare Group. Since September 2024, he has continued his career in his private practice.

He served as editor for the first book ever written in Türkiye on endoscopic spine surgery, prepared in both Turkish and English with contributions from experienced surgeons worldwide and from Türkiye. Şentürk also acted as editor for the annotated question book set (6 books; Neuroanatomy, Neuro-oncology, Neurovascular, Spinal, Pediatrics, Functional) for the TND board and EBNC exams, as well as the book Antimicrobial Prophylaxis in Brain and Spine Surgery. Many of his surgical techniques on spine surgery and endoscopic surgery have been published in international journals. With his novel surgical techniques, he has made significant contributions to the development of endoscopic surgery. He has organized numerous live surgical training courses in Türkiye and abroad on endoscopic spine surgery and scoliosis surgery. He has both participated in and organized many national and international congresses and courses.

He currently serves as Associate Editor for Turkish Neurosurgery and Turkish Journal of Neurosurgery, and acts as reviewer for international journals such as European Spine Journal, World Neurosurgery, and Turkish Neurosurgery.

He is a member of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society, EUROSPINE, MESS, the Turkish Spine Society, and the Spinal and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Group. In addition to receiving TND presentation awards, he has also been granted an international training scholarship award.

He holds two registered utility models related to spine surgery, and his product development projects are ongoing.

Dr. Salim Şentürk has published 52 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and 15 in national peer-reviewed journals. He has authored 17 book chapters. He has given over one hundred oral presentations and abstracts at national and international meetings. Dr. Salim Şentürk has also prepared a fundamental surgical video training set (29 videos) for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine pathologies.

In September 2025, he was appointed as Professor at Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine.
