İrem Gülfem Akın completed her undergraduate studies at Istanbul University's Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2017. During her undergraduate studies, she also studied for one semester at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland. Her thesis, "miRNA Analysis from Serum in Patients with Thoracic Aortic Dissection," was supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).
She completed her master's degree at Istanbul University's Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2021 with her thesis, "Endometrial Gene Expression Analysis Associated with Recurrent Implantation Failure After In Vitro Fertilization," and earned the title of Molecular Biology and Genetics Specialist.
Akın completed her PhD program in Neuroscience at Üsküdar University's Institute of Health Sciences in 2025. Her doctoral dissertation, "Investigation of the Effect of NHE6 Gene Modulation on the Expression of Alzheimer's-Related Genes," was supported by TÜBİTAK within the scope of 1002A projects.
Akın, who has been working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English) at Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences since 2019, has published in national and international journals, participated in congresses and conferences, and conducted projects.
