İ. Karaca BAŞARAN, MD

Born in 1979, Assoc. Prof. Karaca Başaran, MD completed his secondary and high school education at Tarsus American College. In 2003, he got his title of MD from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialty in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine (Çapa) which he entered with a degree. Following his compulsory service, he became an Associate Professor in 2017. Başaran, MD’s hobbies include playing drums, playing basketball and riding motorcycles.
He received the certificate of ECFMG required for working actively in the United States of America by passing all written and oral exams in 2003 (ECFMG ID: 06553911, USMLE STEPS 1-2-3). He got his surgical rotation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, the USA; Internal medicine rotation at Imperial College, Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK. He completed his higher specialty at Temple Health, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, one of the most important centres in the USA. Having the authority to see, examine and operate a patient in the United States of America, Başaran, MD performed approximately 500 surgical operations in many clinics. He took part in various surgeries with the valuable surgeons in the United States. In 2009, he was with James Grotting, MD and Louis Vasconez, MD in Birmingham, Alabama for breast aesthetics. He worked with Nazım Cerkeş for 3 months for rhinoplasty. He has learned about endoscopic (no scar) facial aesthetics operations which are his specialty in all plastic surgery procedures from Oscar Ramirez, the best name in the world in this subject (Miami-Florida). For breast reconstruction, he increased his knowledge with Hilton Becker, MD, best known by Becker prostheses. For the post-weight loss body contouring aesthetics which has recently increased a lot, he was with Joe Hunstad, MD (Charlotte, North Carolina), Ozan Sozer, MD (El Paso, Texas) and Constantino Mendieta, MD (Miami). He went to Brazil, one of the leading countries in the body and buttock aesthetics, he performed surgeries with Raul Gonzalez, MD and increased his knowledge. He learned the migraine surgery which is his another area of interest from Bahmen Guyuryon, MD (Cleveland, Ohio) who found these surgical techniques and taught all the world. Before returning to Turkey, he improved his knowledge of minimal invasive surgical procedures from Daniel Baker, MD (New York), one of the most important doctors in ophthalmic and facial aesthetics surgery. He visited Dr. Wu in Taiwan; one of the pioneers of endsocopic facial plastic surgery in Asia. For advancing his skills in deep plane face lift, Dr Basaran trained at centers in Louisville, Kentucky with Dr. O ‘Daniel, Dr. Auersvald (Brazil) and Dr. Jacono (NY). He received his basic microsurgery training from the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2007. He became a proffesor in 2023.
