Hasan Topaçoğlu was born in Akhisar in 1986. In 2010, he graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Department of Japanese Language Teaching. He won the Mext research scholarship organized by the Ministry of National Education of Japan at the Embassy of Japan and went to Kyoto, Japan in 2011 for graduate education.
Topaçoğlu, who continued his studies as a Research Student for one year, was accepted to the Media and Cultural Studies program within the Faculty of Education at Kyoto University and started his master's degree under the supervision of Prof. Sato Takumi, one of Japan's leading researchers in the field of Media Studies.
After his 2-year master's degree, Hasan Topaçoğlu participated in Japan's Meiji 100th Anniversary as a Media Event. He was awarded with the Best Thesis of the Year Award of the Faculty of Education with his master's thesis on Year Activities and completed his department with the first place.
Hasan Topaçoğlu received his doctorate degree from Kyoto University with his thesis on Media Events (100th Year Events) and Japan’s Memory of Modernization. He has published the vast majority of his academic work, including master's and doctoral theses, in Japanese. He has given many seminars in English at scientific conferences and at Kyoto University.
After his doctorate education, Hasan Topaçoğlu continued his studies at the Suntory Foundation, a research institute headquartered in Osaka. The upcoming 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. National/international media events, social memory, modernization memory, media and cultural studies, especially the 100th Year Events are among his areas of interest.
