Erhan Bektaş is an assistant professor in the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University in Istanbul. Bektaş has a PhD in in the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History from Boğaziçi University, an MA degree in the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History from Boğaziçi University, and a BA degree in History from Boğaziçi University. He finished his doctoral dissertation in April 2019. The title of his dissertation was “The Ulema in the Late-Ottoman Empire (1880-1920): The Formation of Professional Ulema Identity.” The courses he taught include “Modern Turkish History” and “Ottoman Turkish/Paleography .” He also worked as a research assistant at Boğaziçi University Social Policy Forum. His fields of interest include History of Middle East, Late-Ottoman History, Modern Turkish History and Ottoman Intellectual History.
