She completed her undergraduate studies in 2013 and her master’s degree in 2017 at the Department of Classical Archaeology, Istanbul University. Within the scope of her doctoral studies at the Department of Archaeology at Istanbul University, she conducted fieldwork and documentation studies with permits granted by the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Highways. Supported by the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) George M. A. Hanfmann Doctoral Fellowship and the Koç University Suna & İnan Kıraç Research Center for Mediterranean Civilizations (AKMED) Doctoral Fellowship, she carried out her research at The American School of Classical Studies at Athens and completed her PhD in 2024. Having participated in various archaeological excavations and survey projects, Kaya continues her academic research focusing on ancient bridges, road routes, and Roman Period civil and military architecture.
