Associate Professor Dr. Burcu Polat, who holds certification from the European Board of Neurology, specializes in headaches and preventive neurology. Polat completed her medical education at Fırat University School of Medicine in 2000 and completed her residency in neurology at Bakırköy Hospital for Mental and Nervous Disorders in 2009.

Having pursued her academic and clinical career for many years at Istanbul Medipol Mega University Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polat served as Chair of the Department of Neurology at Düzce University Faculty of Medicine from 2023 to 2026, following nearly 10 years of experience there. His primary areas of interest include migraines and other head and facial pain conditions, myofascial pain syndromes, vertigo, neuromodulation applications, stroke, and dementia syndromes. In his clinical practice, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polat combines the scientific approach of modern neurology with complementary treatment methods; he offers his patients personalized and sustainable solutions through specialized treatment methods such as dry needling, electroacupuncture, nerve blocks, and botulinum toxin injections.

Her scientific work focuses primarily on clinical and neuroepidemiological research in the field of migraines and other headaches; approaches to the prevention and treatment of dementia and related neurodegenerative diseases; neurorehabilitation; neuromodulation applications; chronic pain treatments; smell and taste disorders; and medical education. She continues her research on preventive and therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Burcu POLAT serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, Üsküdar University.
