Since 2011, Üsküdar University Libraries have been serving users through the İbrahim Tarhan Library, located at the Altunizade Main Campus, as well as the Müzeyyen Tarhan Library at the NP Health Campus, the Namık Kemal Library at the South Campus, and the Ayhan Songar Library at the NP Faculty of Medicine Campus. The library’s core mission is to facilitate access to information to support educational and research activities, provide users with rich and reliable resources, and develop information literacy skills.
Designed with this modern vision, the libraries have a total usable area of 8,174 square metres and a seating capacity of 3,507. All university members can conduct their work seamlessly and securely by utilising the databases and all resources available via the search portal (EDS) on the website, as well as the Open Access System (openaccess.uskudar), which hosts academic resources produced within the university.
Operating on an open-shelf system in accordance with the Library of Congress Classification System, the library houses a highly rich and comprehensive collection. The collection comprises 91,862 physical items, 1,315,523 e-books, 72,058 e-journals, 3,680 theses and 70 subscribed databases. Users can search for printed resources via the Yordam Automation System, search all resources via EDS, and access the subscribed databases 24/7 from both on and off campus. Under the borrowing policy, users may borrow up to five books at a time from the library and keep these items for a total of 45 days, including two renewal periods. Üsküdar University Library, which also offers the convenience of reserving items via an account before visiting the library, continues its work with the vision of being a contemporary information centre at the heart of academic life, constantly embracing innovations in technology and information services.
