Pelin Yüksel Mayda 1973 yılında Şanlıurfa’da doğdu. 1995 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Tıbbi Biyolojik Bilimler Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. Yüksek Lisansını 1999 yılında aynı Üniversite’de Tıbbi Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalında, doktora eğitimini ise 2005 yılında Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Tıbbi Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalında tamamladı. 2013 yılında ABD’de John Hopkins Üniversitesi nöroviroloji laboratuvarında gözlemci olarak çalıştı. 2015 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Tıbbi Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalında doçentlik ünvanını aldı. 2018 yılında Bezmialem Vakıf Üniversitesi Eczacılık Fakültesi Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim dalı başkanı olarak doçent kadrosuyla atandı. 2021 yılında Kocaeli Sağlık ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi’ne Profesör kadrosu ile başlayıp Sağlık Bilimleri Fakülte Dekanlığı görevinde bulundu. Aynı Üniversite’de 2022 yılında Eczacılık Fakültesi kurucu Dekanı olarak görev yaptıktan sonra Rektör Yardımcılığı görevine atandı. Kocaeli Sağlık ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi’nde görev yaptığı süre boyunca Etik Kurul ve Bilimsel Araştırmalar Birimi başkanlıklarında da bulundu. Şimdiye kadar görev almış olduğu üniversitelerde Tıp, Diş Hekimliği, Eczacılık, Sağlık Bilimleri Fakülteleri, Meslek Yüksek Okulları, Yüksek lisans ve doktora programlarında Mikrobiyoloji derslerini verdi. Uluslararası indekslere girmiş 53 makalesi, 15 ulusal makalesi, uluslararası kongrelerde yapmış olduğu 58, ulusal kongrelerde ise 33 sunumu bulunmaktadır.
