Esma Ulusoy, 1976 yılında Burdur, Türkiye'de doğdu. Marmara Üniversitesi Biyoloji Eğitimi (İngilizce) Bölümü'nden mezun oldu ve öğretmenlik kariyerine başladı. 2005 yılında 19 Mayıs Üniversitesi Biyoloji Bölümü'nde Hayvan Histolojisi alanında yüksek lisans derecesini tamamladı. 2019 yılında Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi'nde "Floresan Etiketli Poli (Laktik-ko-glikolik) Asit Nanopartiküllerinin yonca (Medicago sativa) Süspansiyon Kültürlerinde Alımı ve Dağılımı" başlıklı teziyle doktora derecesini aldı.
