Registration Freeze

Students may be suspended if they have a valid reason accepted by the relevant board of directors. The principles regarding the suspension of enrollment are as follows:

a) Students may be granted a maximum of two semesters of leave at a time for unknown reasons such as illness, natural disasters, study abroad, military service deferment, and upon the student's request and with the approval of the relevant board of directors. However, this period cannot exceed four semesters in undergraduate, two semesters in associate degree, one semester in scientific preparation program and master's degree without thesis, two semesters in master's degree with thesis, and four semesters in doctorate / proficiency in art for the entire education period.
b) The student makes his/her application to the relevant dean's office/directorate after receiving approval from the Department of Financial Affairs.
c) The student requesting a registration freeze adds a medical report, military service certificate, disaster certificate from the local authority, and documents indicating that he/she will study abroad to his/her petition according to the reason for the registration freeze.
ç) Students who freeze their enrollment cannot participate in educational activities during this period and cannot take the midterm and final exams of the semester.
d) If a compelling reason that necessitates a suspension of enrollment occurs during the semester, the student is deemed to have suspended his/her enrollment from the beginning of that semester.
e) The period of suspension of enrollment is not counted from the education period.
f) Students who request a registration freeze must fulfill their financial obligations. The principles regarding financial obligations are determined by the Board of Trustees.

  • Associate and Undergraduate students continue to pay their annual fees when they freeze their registration. They fulfill their financial obligations by collecting half of the fee for the semester in which they freeze their enrollment as "registration freeze fee" and deducting the other half from the fee of the year in which they re-enroll.
  • Master's and PhD students continue to pay the program package fee when they suspend their registration. If there is a fee difference in the program fee in the year they open their registration, they must pay this fee difference.
