President of Üsküdar University, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, and Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör came together with the student guides, also known as the “yellow shirts,” who are actively involved in the 2025-YKS preference and promotion days. During the gathering, the students shared the positive feedback they received from prospective students and their families. The meeting highlighted the satisfaction expressed with the students’ warm and friendly approach, as well as the strong interest in the university’s laboratory facilities. It was also noted with a smile that one family expressed a desire to become a full-fledged “Üsküdar family.”

The meeting was held at the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall on the Main Campus of Üsküdar University, with the participation of President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, Secretary General Asil Barış Bağ, academic and administrative staff, and the yellow-shirted student guides.

Opening the meeting, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that the observations of student guides are among the most valuable data for the university. Stressing that the most reliable faces of the preference period are the students currently studying at the university, Tarhan said: “A school is best represented by its students. You are our most important representatives in the field. While candidates and their families tour the campus and visit the laboratories, you are the ones answering their most pressing and personal questions. They wonder, ‘Are you happy here?’, your sincere answers are the most effective form of promotion. Even if you receive criticism, share it with us; criticism is a gift to us.”

Prof. Nazife Güngör shares advice with the yellow shirts
Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör also attended the meeting and emphasized the significance of the responsibilities undertaken by student guides during the preference period. She highlighted the importance of representing the university’s institutional identity and educational vision accurately and professionally in the field. Prof. Güngör also underlined that one-on-one communication established with prospective students makes a meaningful impact on their decision-making process.

A whole family wants to become Üsküdar students
During the meeting, where student chiefs from each campus provided detailed information about their respective locations, an interesting anecdote was shared that a whole family’s aspiration to become Üsküdar University students.
Zeynep Nurlu, stationed at the Çarşı Campus, mentioned that following her own entrance into the university, both her mother and father were also planning to take the university exam and choose Üsküdar. This touching story was met with warm smiles during the meeting. It was emphasized that such examples reflect the strong sense of belonging that Üsküdar University fosters and demonstrate that there is no age limit when it comes to education.
