Future experts gained field experience at Monrol

Students of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program at Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services participated in a technical visit to Monrol Nuclear Products Industry and Trade, one of Türkiye’s leading companies in the field of nuclear medicine. The visit aimed to support the students’ professional development and increase their sectoral awareness. During the visit, students had the opportunity to receive direct information from experts and observe current practices in the field firsthand.

The visit was attended by Instructor Dilek Aker, Head of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program; Assoc. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek, Head of the Department of Electricity and Energy; and program students.

During the technical visit, students were provided with personal protective equipment such as lab coats, overshoes, and alarmed dosimeters. In addition, they received comprehensive information on general radiation safety, area monitors, and the use of personal dosimeters. The high-level safety measures taken were enlightening and educational for the department’s students.

Monrol is a globally recognized company operating in the fields of radionuclide production, radiopharmaceutical development, and distribution. The company specializes in the production of radiopharmaceuticals used in advanced imaging techniques such as PET and SPECT.

Students had the opportunity to receive direct information from experts

Accompanied by Monrol Radiation Safety Specialist Batuhan Gültekin, the students had the chance to examine and learn about the following areas during the technical visit:

  • Production laboratories
  • Quality control and quality assurance units
  • Storage areas and cold chain logistics
  • Packaging and labeling processes
  • Radioactive waste management system

Emphasis was placed on practices for radiation safety

Later, an informative presentation was held in the company’s meeting room. As part of this, Onur Biter, Monrol Theranostic Production Manager, gave a comprehensive presentation about the company’s fields of operation, technological infrastructure, and its position in both national and international markets.

Senior Radiation Safety Specialist İsmet Can Koltuk explained the practices implemented by the company to ensure radiation safety and emphasized their importance. During the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions about the topics they were curious about.

Internship and employment opportunities were also discussed

At the end of the technical visit, Monrol Human Resources representative Emine Ayşenur Dayanıklı provided information to the students about the company’s internship and employment opportunities and invited them to share their résumés for potential future positions.

Additionally, the fact that two Üsküdar University graduates are currently employed at Monrol served as an inspiration for the students.

This interaction with a well-established and globally active company like Monrol not only enhanced the students’ technical knowledge but also positively contributed to their professional perspectives. By observing current practices in the sector on-site, students gained a broader and more realistic perspective regarding their profession.

At the end of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude to Monrol officials for their interest and hospitality.
