Global Success of Üsküdar in the 2025 Impact Rankings was discussed…
The fifth Research and Development Oriented Extended Senate Meeting was held by the Üsküdar University Department of Research and Innovation Policies. During the meeting, which was attended by senate members and academicians, project presentations were made. The importance of Times Higher Education (THE) labels was emphasized, and the success of Üsküdar University in being ranked within the most distinguished 25 percent globally in the 2025 Impact Rankings was shared.
The meeting was held at the İbni Sina Auditorium of Üsküdar University NP Health Campus and was attended by President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, as well as senate members and academicians.
Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “People conduct self-evaluations by looking at these labels”
President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized the importance of Times Higher Education (THE) labels. Tarhan stated, “THE labels are very important. People conduct self-evaluations by looking at these labels. The ultimate goal is to be able to apply for all seventeen of these labels, but not everyone can achieve that. There is tremendous effort involved here. The whole team worked excellently. I congratulate everyone who contributed.”
Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel: “Üsküdar is in the most distinguished 25 percent among 2,389 universities…”
The opening speeches of the meeting were delivered by Vice Rector of Üsküdar University, Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel. Beginning with a Research and Development information presentation, Ergüzel shared that Üsküdar University had achieved a great success in the 2025 Impact Rankings of the prestigious ranking organization Times Higher Education (THE). He also stated that Üsküdar was placed in the most distinguished 25 percent (Q1) among the 2,389 universities that applied globally.
Project presentations were held during the meeting
Prof. Emel Serdaroğlu Kaşıkçı, faculty member of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Turkish), Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, presented her project titled, “Investigation of the potential neuroprotective effect of homeopathic Gelsemium Sempervirens in an experimental Parkinson's disease model: a new approach towards treatment (GETAT).”
Prof. Hıdır İlyas Göz, Head of the Department of Psychology Doctoral Program, Institute of Social Sciences, presented his project titled, “Testing the fuzzy trace theory with electroencephalogram (EEG): do the neural correlates of physical and semantic encoding differ in the effect of word frequency on memory illusion? (1002-A).”
Instructor Meryem Koçaslan Toran from the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences, presented her project titled, “Development of a mobile health application for multiple sclerosis patients with neuropathic pain and the effect of the application on pain severity and quality of life (1002-A).”
Following these, an ARGEYEP Information presentation was held. Assoc. Prof. Müge Ensari Özay, Director of Research and Innovation Policies, gave a presentation in which she discussed ongoing projects.
Sapling certificates were given
After the project presentations, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan presented sapling certificates to the project owners.
