Senior students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English) presented their graduation theses before a jury. This process, designed to equip students with academic writing, literature review, and defense skills, enables them to prepare for graduate studies in a more qualified manner.

The posters displayed on the second floor of Block A at Üsküdar University Main Campus attracted great interest.

The posters, exhibited at Üsküdar University Main Campus, received attention from both academics and visitors. Many faculty members, including Prof. Muhsin Konuk, Advisor to the Rector and faculty member of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English), and the Head of the Department Prof. Tunç Çatal, listened to the students' presentations and provided evaluations.

Prof. Muhsin Konuk: “We ensure that they complete the process in a healthy and effective way”

Prof. Muhsin Konuk stated that they aim to educate students in a well-equipped academic manner. Konuk said, “This has been an ongoing activity since we started graduating our first students. We include a graduation thesis course in our curriculum. Before graduating, students prepare and write a thesis on a topic they choose. Before submitting the thesis, they create a poster presentation and present it before a jury. The score they receive from this presentation is directly reflected on their transcript. Our main goal is to teach students how to write a thesis and how to conduct a literature review. After they choose their topics, we create a roadmap together with them within two to three weeks. Then, we meet with them weekly to evaluate their progress, what they have done, and where they are struggling. In this way, we guide them to complete the process in a healthy and structured manner.”

Prof. Tunç Çatal: “Students are better prepared for graduate studies”

Prof. Tunç Çatal, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English) at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, emphasized that the system has had positive effects on students. Çatal said, “Through these studies, students are better prepared for graduate programs. At the same time, by gaining defense experience during their thesis presentations, they adapt more easily to academic processes.”
