“Golden Human Award” was presented to Prof. Nevzat Tarhan!
President of Üsküdar University and renowned psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan has been honored with the “Golden Human Award” in the category of “Wisdom and Psychiatry Honor.”
Once again recognized for his contributions to science and humanity, Prof. Tarhan stated that “Investing in people is more important than investing in stone and soil. It is investment in people, not in buildings, that will save the future. Our ancestors used to say, ‘Skill is subject to appreciation,’ and that is exactly why.”
The Golden Human Awards ceremony, which celebrates achievements that inspire in the fields of art, science, and humanity, took place at Mihrabat Grove in Kanlıca. In its seventh edition, the event honored distinguished individuals in various categories including Golden Pen, Golden Shutter, Golden Book, World Health Awards, Academic Golden Pen Awards, and the Golden Human Awards.
At the ceremony, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan received the Golden Human Award in the “Wisdom and Psychiatry Honor” category. The award, presented by the organizing committee, recognized him for “the meaning he adds to life, the value he brings to humanity, and the beauty he leaves behind.”
Prof. Tarhan, who was deemed worthy of the 'Golden Human Award', received great applause during the ceremony.
“It is investment in people, not in buildings, that will save the future.”
In his speech, Prof. Tarhan made the following remarks:
“Investing in people is more important than investing in stone and soil. It is investment in people, not in buildings, that will save the future. Our ancestors used to say, ‘Skill is subject to appreciation,’ and that is the reason for this saying. It is more valuable to nourish hearts than to merely fill stomachs. The happiness of the people walking through buildings is more important than the buildings themselves. The word ‘gönül’ (spiritual heart) has no direct equivalent in English. Likewise, the word ‘huzur’ (inner peace) is translated as ‘peace,’ but its true meaning comes from being prepared. The ability of a person to see both the good and the bad and to remain peaceful in life stems from the satisfaction of the heart. Therefore, supporting those who invest in the human heart, highlighting human values, and making this a core practice is truly essential.”
Since 2018, the Golden Human Awards have aimed to inspire by recognizing individuals who stand out in the fields of art, literature, science, and health. The event also serves as a platform for young talents to make their voices heard and share their ideas.
