"Turkish Barometer 2024" brings hope!
The project report titled "Turkish Barometer 2024: Current Approaches to Education and Scientific Cooperation in Turkish States," in which sociologists from Üsküdar University actively participated, was presented to the public at a well-attended international conference held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The project has established a roadmap for cooperation in the fields of education and science among Turkish states.
Aimed at strengthening cooperation in education and science among Turkish states, the comprehensive research project "Turkish Barometer 2024: Current Approaches to Education and Scientific Cooperation in Turkish States," involving the active participation of sociologists from Üsküdar University, was presented to the public at an international conference held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The project is considered a significant step toward building a common future in the field of education and science in the Turkish world. With this project, a roadmap for cooperation in education and science among Turkish states has been established.
Prepared by the Turkic Academy, headquartered in Astana, Kazakhstan, and coordinated by Prof. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, a faculty member of the Sociology Department at Üsküdar University, the project was shared in detail at an international conference held on April 21, 2025, at the Azerbaijan Social Research Center. The conference brought together the findings of the research, which evaluated existing cooperation in education and science among Turkish states and presented strategic recommendations for the future, with academic circles and the public.
The international conference, organized in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Social Research Center and the Turkic Academy, was attended by Azerbaijani parliamentarians, university rectors, embassy representatives, and a large number of academics, experts, and institutional representatives from both domestic and international circles. The event emerged as an important platform that paved the way for concrete steps to further advance education and scientific cooperation among Turkish states.
A conference to contribute to cooperation in education among Turkish states
In his opening speech at the conference, Zahid Oruç, President of the Azerbaijan Social Research Center and Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the conference in contributing to the development of cooperation in science and education among Turkish states.
Turkic Academy President Prof. Şahin Mustafayev, in his opening remarks, stated that the research focused on examining current approaches to educational and scientific cooperation among Turkish states. Prof. Mustafayev underlined that the study aimed not only to identify the current situation but also to develop applicable strategies to strengthen educational and scientific cooperation in the Turkic world.
During the event, the research findings were presented in detail through comprehensive presentations by the academics of the research group representing the Turkish states.

Project Research Coordinator Prof. Ebulfez Süleymanlı explained in his speech that the research aimed to analyze the current state of educational and scientific cooperation among Turkish states. He also emphasized that it provided a comprehensive perspective on how the region could integrate into the global education and science system, as well as the potential economic, social, and cultural outcomes of this process.
Presentations on cooperation in education and science among Turkish states
Representing Azerbaijan, Elmin Nuri, an expert from the Azerbaijan Social Research Center; representing Kazakhstan, Assoc. Prof. Nurlan Baigabylov from L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University; representing Türkiye, Assoc. Prof. Taner Atmaca from Düzce University and Assoc. Prof. Barış Çağırtkan from İzmir Democracy University; representing Uzbekistan, Prof. Jumaniyaz Ramatov, Head of the Department of Philosophy at Tashkent State University of Transport, and Assoc. Prof. Farogat Fayziyeva from Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State Uzbek Language and Literature University; and representing Kyrgyzstan, Dr. Ali Ünal, a faculty member of the Department of Sociology at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, presented statistical data on public perceptions, expectations, strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas of development regarding cooperation in education and science among Turkish states.
Following the presentations, discussions were held on how to develop educational policies, academic exchange programs, joint research projects, and institutional collaborations.
Sociologist Melike Demir from the Sociology Department of Üsküdar University was also part of the project’s Türkiye team.
