The Invisible Face of the World, The Blind Spot of the New World: “Palestine”
The Kızılay Club of Üsküdar University’s Health, Culture, and Sports Department (HCS) organized an event titled “The Invisible Face of the World, The Blind Spot of the New World: Palestine.” The event aimed to raise awareness about genocide and human rights violations, which have left deep marks on human history, and to highlight justice and human rights issues.
The event was held at the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall at Üsküdar University's Main Campus, drawing significant attention. The distinguished guests included Researcher and Author Abdullah Şentürk, Academic Ayçin Kantoğlu, the President of Young Kızılay Ömer Faruk Çalışkan, and Assoc. Prof. Ali Osman Karaoğlu, the Head of the Public Law Department at Yalova University.
Acknowledging Supporting Institutions
In the opening of the program, Kübra Baştekin, the President of the Kızılay Club at Üsküdar University, expressed her gratitude to all the individuals and institutions that supported the event. She concluded her speech by reciting Sezai Karakoç’s poem “Kudüs.”
Justice, Sincerity, and Blessings
The event began with a presentation by Researcher and Author Abdullah Şentürk, titled "Historical Truths: A Journey Through Palestine's Past." Şentürk defined Palestine through the three key concepts of ‘Justice,’ ‘Sincerity,’ and ‘Blessings.’ He also shared the story of Caliph Umar’s conquest of Jerusalem, providing attendees with insight into Palestine's historical process.
The Impact of War on Children
Translator Ayçin Kantoğlu delivered a presentation titled "The Pulse of Resistance: Palestine’s Current Situation and the Impact of Boycotts." She emphasized that the ongoing war, which has lasted over 450 days, has primarily affected children. Kantoğlu highlighted the health crisis in Gaza and how people are struggling with hunger and poverty. She also noted that young people are more sensitive to the boycotts.
Kızılay's Aid to Gaza
Ömer Faruk Çalışkan, the President of Young Kızılay, likened Palestine’s freedom to the opening of the Hagia Sophia Mosque. He discussed the ongoing nature of wars throughout history and stressed that it is no coincidence that they have been concentrated in Muslim lands. Çalışkan also highlighted Kızılay’s efforts to provide aid to Gaza and the organization’s efforts to boycott Israel.
Palestinian Freedom Advocated
Finally, Assoc. Prof. Ali Osman Karaoğlu, the Head of the Public Law Department at Yalova University, presented a session titled "The Helping Hand of Kızılay's Touch on Palestine." Karaoğlu performed the Turkish song “Hadi Ammar,” inspiring the audience with a message of Palestinian freedom and concluding with melodies that expressed mercy and compassion for humanity.
Raising Awareness for Palestine
The event, which aimed to create significant awareness about the history and current situation of Palestine, concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers and a group photo.
