Prof. Mehmet Zelka: "Having equal rights and opportunities is one of the cornerstones of a strong society"
Delivering the opening speech of the event, Üsküdar University Advisor to the Rector Prof. Mehmet Zelka underlined the concept of potential wealth. Zelka stated that "The potential of a country is directly proportional to its qualified manpower. This understanding reveals the importance of not only individual achievements, but also social solidarity. Within the framework of the social state understanding, the fact that people with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities with other members of the society is one of the cornerstones of a strong society."
Zeynep Acet: "People with disabilities should be confident in themselves instead of feeling inadequate"
National Paralympic Athlete Zeynep Acet emphasized that people with disabilities can achieve great success with support and belief. Acet stated that "People with disabilities should be confident in themselves instead of feeling inadequate. If your family wants you to socialize instead of sitting at home, the rest comes one way or another. Just do not give up, believe, and trust. One of the influences on my progress in this sport is that our Mayor of Bağcılar Süleyman Soydemir has great support for us. He picks us up from home every morning and takes us to the training ground and makes it easier for us to go home again after we train there. Maybe if the municipalities look at this deficit, we can achieve more success in sports."
Nurşah Usta talked about her journey to the world championship
National Paralympic Athlete Nurşah Usta shared her journey to the world championship. She returned from the World Championships in London 2017 with a Gold medal and expressed that "Success is not just about awards. It is the pride we feel when we achieve our dreams."
