Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: "The risk of suicide is 2 times higher in gender reassignments"

Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan was the guest of the live broadcast of the “Arafta Sorular” program presented by Esra Elönü on 24TV. Tarhan, who made evaluations on prominent issues such as “Family, de-gendering, neglect, abuse and violence in children...", said that staying silent about evil means being a partner in evil. Addressing the issue of de-gendering in a scientific context, Tarhan said that the incidence of psychiatric disorders is 20 times higher, and the suicide rate is 2 times higher in those who change gender.

"The USA is the most polluting society in the world"

Answering Esra Elönü's questions in the live broadcast he attended, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan pointed out that there is currently a global epidemic of narcissism. Tarhan expressed that "There is a global epidemic of narcissism right now, but modernism supports it. Modernism, the capitalist system, supports this. Since global competition is supported, selfishness is encouraged under the name of individualism. In such cases, self-interested people are glorified. The origin of this goes back to the Age of Enlightenment, Nietzsche. 'The market has no morality’ is where the concept comes from. The culture of charity, cooperation, modesty are the work of primitive tribes. They increase the cost of operation and negatively affect capitalism, and their behavior devalues them in this culture. Europe, in particular, has curbed this with the influence of socialism in Russia, but in America, complete brutal capitalism continues with all its violence. Right now, an American consumes as much as five human beings. America is the most polluting society in the world. That is why there is global narcissism behind it."

"To remain silent in the face of evil is to be complicit in evil"

Underlining that there is a serious decay in society, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that moral collapse lies behind this situation. Tarhan stated that "To remain silent in the face of evil is to be complicit in evil. It is even inciting evil. After the evil has passed, people who say it is bad come out more honest. However, those who remain silent about evil, who can fight evil, who know evil as evil, but who do not fight against it for profit, or who do not fight against it through unawareness, are under much greater responsibility and plague. At the moment, there is a serious decay in society. Behind this lies moral decadence. This began in 1580. When the Ottomans were at their strongest, this collapse began gradually. In those times of the Ottomans, it created a false self-confidence. With the effect of that self-confidence, there were many departures from the truth, but it protected the Ottomans because they established a system of their own. As the Ottomans became poorer, especially in the last two hundred years, they had to decline economically and become authoritarian to keep the system work. When it had to become authoritarian, it moved away from justice. Right, persecutions have increased. Lawlessness, corruption and poverty have increased. As a result, if there is pressure, intimidation, threats and fear has replaced trust, if fear is the main trust exception, collapse occurs when this increases in society."

Pointing out that where there is justice, there is peace and trust, Tarhan said that "When the balance of justice in society is disturbed, justice creates a sense of trust like an invisible bond. In this society, for example, what happens in a family when trust weakens in that family? When people come home, they are scared. The children run away when the father comes. For example, if the father is terrorizing the house because children is convinced that something unlawful will happen when they come home, that they will be treated unfairly and that their brother will be favored, children will want to run away from home at the first opportunity. The family is like a reduced society, and society is like an enlarged family. In both, the dynamic balance of opposites applies. In such cases, the balance of good and evil, the balance of right and wrong, the balance of safe and unsafe, the balance of useful and useless… This balance runs in the family. In other words, if there is justice in the sharing of rights and opportunities within the family, there is peace there. Trust is being built. Because where there is safety, there is peace. However, if that sharing, which we call the doctrine of equity in the sharing of rights and opportunities, is not fair, people are victimized there and feel bad."

Underlining that the family is currently a serious target, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan said that "The biggest trauma when we ignore the child is emotional neglect. In other words, you give something to others, you do not give it to them. This ignoring is more traumatic than beating. For example, one of the siblings has asthma or an illness. Everyone takes care of him because he is sick. The healthy ones are neglected. I know people who do not call their mother as mother, they call her that woman, and they want a DNA analysis test. He believed that he was her stepchild. He had turned into a delirium, and unfortunately, we see examples of this very often. Mothers and fathers make this mistake with good intentions and traumatize their children. This is how many psychiatric problems arise in the future. And these become very difficult to treat later. It is not enough for the family to be a safe space in the family, love is not enough... Love is beautiful, if there is love + secure attachment, there is peace. In order for there to be secure attachment, rights and opportunities must be fair. Role sharing needs to be fair. The family is now in serious targets. The family was first targeted as a global project in the 1960s. The plan of global capital in the 1960s was family planning. The extensions of global capital in Türkiye have done this under the name of social responsibility projects. Right now, they have reduced our population.”

Tarhan stated that "Patriarchal culture somehow continued to become authoritarian to protect society. There is a period when women were neglected. Against this, feminist movements began in the East and in the West. Emancipation movements. There were reflections of this in Türkiye in the 60s. However, feminism has deviated from its starting point. It turned the women's liberation movement into a war between men and women. This time, in the 1970s, anti-family movements entered a new phase. Open marriage policies began. Open classroom in schools, open marriage in marriage, open marriage in family life. It is when both spouses have lovers. They saw it as modernization. And then the children pay the price. The world's population is growing very fast. That is to say, global capital wants the family to break up to stop the increase in the world's population. It wants it to be some kind of child. One of the points that it can do in such situations because he it wants to have no children is nonbinary, something that will reduce marriage. The spread of the mind thought 'What is the need for marriage?' Gay and lesbian marriages have been encouraged in some states in the United States and in the Netherlands so that there can be marriage between men and women and women."

Tarhan stated that "When there is an Olympics in 2024, there is LGBT propaganda and nonbinary propaganda at the opening ceremony. There were bearded women and men in skirts. There were naked people painted in color. So, what is it? The Olympic committee was given a significant amount of funding, and they placed it in that ceremony. The choice of Paris is also significant. That is, where the French Revolution began. We are committed to this. They said they were going to make a revolution in the world about it. They said they were going to make a cultural revolution in the world. That is where it should be declared. Our minds are occupied. Our homeland is not occupied, but our minds are occupied. How is it occupied? In France, Franco's society has implemented the 3F rule to depoliticize young people: football, film, festivals. They wanted to create young people who pursue their wishes instead of chasing meaning. So that they do not question, so that they do not question the administration... They wanted to make people stupid and hypnotized. For this reason, he has invested in football, film and festivals. Here we are fascinated by the media, using social media, right now. We are being hypnotized.”

We can only protect if we are subjects, not objects...

Stating that people who know their responsibility protect their borders against threats, Tarhan concluded his remarks as follows: "The real freedom is to be free from our desires and impulses. Today, we see the system as freedom, which multiplies greedy, insatiable, pleasure-seeking, self-interested and arrogant people, and excessively encourages mundane desires in our beliefs and cultures. The real freedom is those who can control them. Therefore, we have a wild horse in us. The one who disciplines it is free. Otherwise, the person is not free if they in the forest on a wild horse and get lost in the forest. It is irresponsible. In other words, it is the person who is used in the path of life for this. In such cases, we can only protect against the propaganda of being nonbinary if we are subjects, not objects. If we become the subject of social media, we are protected. In other words, we are the object of social media. Social media is using us right now. Here we need to know our own responsibility. A person who knows their responsibility protects their borders against this threat. We need to raise children who make peace with their gender."
