Born on March 29, 1981 in Izmir-Bornova, originally from Senirkent-Isparta on his father’s side. He completed his primary education at Izmir Turkish College and his secondary and high school education at Izmir Saint-Joseph French High School. He graduated with high honors from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (English) at Bilkent University in 2004, which he entered in 1999. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science in 2011 from the integrated doctoral program in the Department of Political Science at Bilkent University, which he entered in 2004, with his thesis entitled “Portrait of a Turkish Social Democrat: Ismail Cem”, prepared under the supervision of Dr. Berrak Burçak and successfully defended before a distinguished jury including Prof. Metin Heper, Prof. Ergun Özbudun, Prof. Ayşe Güneş Ayata, and Dr. Nur Bilge Criss.

Between 2009-2012, he worked as an Instructor in the Department of Public Administration at Uşak University. Between October 2012 and January 2016, he served in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) at Girne American University (GAU), Department of Political Science and Public Administration (English), as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department. Afterwards, he returned to Turkey and served as faculty member and Head of Department at various universities such as Beykent University (2016-2018), Gedik University (2018-2020), Istanbul Kent University (2020-2023, 2024-2025), and Istanbul Aydın University (2023-2024). In 2018, he became an Associate Professor in the field of Political Science, and in 2024, he was appointed as a Professor at Istanbul Kent University for the first time. He is currently working at Üsküdar University.

He has many scientific books and articles published both domestically and internationally. In addition, he has edited several academic books on Turkish Foreign Policy, such as Turkish Foreign Policy in the New Millennium (Peter Lang, 2015), Mavi Elma: Türkiye-Avrupa İlişkileri (Gazi Kitabevi, 2016), Historical Examinations and Current Issues in Turkish-American Relations (Peter Lang, 2020), Turkish-French Relations: History, Present, and the Future (Springer, 2022), Cumhuriyet’in 100. Yılında Nasıl Bir Dış Politika? (Nobel Akademik Yayıncılık, 2023), Turkish-American Relations in the 21st Century (Lexington Books, 2024), and Türkiye-Britain Relations: Two Hundred Years of an Intertwined Conflict and Cooperation (Lexington Books, 2024). He is also the author of Türk-Amerikan İlişkileri (Urzeni Yayıncılık, 2021), Türkiye-Fransa İlişkileri (Urzeni Yayıncılık, 2022), 2023 Turkish Elections in All Aspects (Peter Lang, 2023), and İngiliz Jeopolitik Yaklaşımları ve Türk-İngiliz İlişkileri (Sarmal Kitabevi, 2025).

Furthermore, he has authored books in Turkish examining the political systems and foreign policies of countries such as the United States, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the European Union. He is fluent in English and French.

Örmeci is also the Head of Political Science Studies at the Ankara-based Political Psychology Association (PPD), the Founding General Coordinator of the International Political Academy (UPA), and the publisher of the academic journal UPA Strategic Affairs.

The main fields of study of Dr. Ozan Örmeci are: International Politics, Comparative Politics, Great Power Competition, Political Psychology, Turkish Political History, Leftist Movements in Turkey, and Turkish Foreign Policy.

In addition, Örmeci is a congress member of Karşıyaka Sports Club (KSK) and a supporter of Beşiktaş JK (BJK).
