Short CV

Dr. Aktan received the B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University. After completing his undergraduate education, he decided to pursue an academic career. In 1999, he started his master's degree in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Boğaziçi University. He became a teaching assistant in the same department at the beginning of 2001. In 2001, he received his master's degree and started his PhD in the same department. In 2007, he presented his doctoral thesis entitled “High-Level Power Efficient Synthesis of FIR Based Digital Systems”. In 2008, he was accepted by the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) to conduct post-doctoral study. He continued his academic career at this university for 3 years. During this period, he worked as a researcher in the project titled “Transistor Sizing and Voltage Scaling for Minimal Energy at Fixed Performance” sponsored by Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC). This work formed the basis of a start-up company, Silicon Analytics, which developed a power optimization tool for the design of digital CMOS circuits.
