Mesut Demirbilek worked as Homicide Detective with different ranks at Istanbul Homicide Bureau after he graduated from Police College and Police Academy in 1987. He won a scholarship from the Turkish Government and went to John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City for a master study in the field of crime investigations & techniques in 2000. After the graduation, he turned back to Turkey and started to work as the chief of National Organized Crime Department in Ankara. Meanwhile, he was appointed to establish and manage the first National High Tech Crime Department. His second appointment was the National Crime Scene Investigation and Identification Department at the National Police Forensic Lavatories. He managed and coordinated the National Crime Scene Investigation Units at HQ and in provinces. During his career at various police departments, he attended numbers of trainings in the field of physical and cyber crime investigations. After 22 year of policing career, he retired and passed to the private sector in 2005.

Mesut Demirbilek has been working for multinational companies in different sectors such as finance, food and telecom in Turkey as the head of their corporate security departments and responsible for malicious risk management in the frame of physical security, frauds, information security and business continuity functions.

Beside his professional career, he has continued to take places in criminal researches and articles. He has published two books together with Onur Akhan in the field of homicide researches; Murder Talks (Cinayet Sohbetleri) & All We are Killers (Hepimiz Katiliz). He has been also giving lecturers on homicide investigations at Institute of Addiction & Forensic Sciences – Uskudar University since 2017.
