QUALITY PROGRAM QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM

1. Our Quality Policy

The quality policy of the Faculty of Dentistry has been established on the basis of the YÖK Quality Assurance System and 2019-2023 Strategic Plan of Üsküdar University. Accordingly, Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry Quality Policy consists of the following basic principles:

  • Adopting an education approach based on the principles of the Dentistry Core Education Program (DUÇEP) within the framework of the YÖK Quality Assurance and National Qualification, and creating syllabuses within the framework of this understanding.
  • Consisting of academic staff with qualified academicians in their fields, individuals to be appointed to the academic staff must be compatible with the program they will be appointed in terms of both their scientific publication performance and the education they receive.
  • Teaching the lessons with a rich bibliography, including at least five different sources in each lesson. Supporting students to be equipped with extensive knowledge of literature.
  • An education and training approach that will provide basic science and basic field formation.
  • An education approach that also includes lessons that will create a general cultural accumulation for the student. Culture of University course is given for this purpose.
  • An educational quality approach based on raising critical, questioning, innovative and creative individuals.
  • Determination and fair application of measurement and evaluation criteria in education in a concrete way.
  • An education approach that is compatible with the realities of society and the world. Elective courses including current topics are given for this purpose
  • An education and training policy with the aim of finding a response in the professional field. For this reason, cooperation with industry professionals is considered important.
  • Adopting an interdisciplinary approach. For this reason, it is considered important to take courses in the university elective category from different departments of the university.
  • To raise individuals who are sensitive to the problems of the country and the world, inclined to work for the benefit of humanity, as well as professional equipment. For this reason, it is important to direct the student to social responsibility projects.
  • An education and training policy suitable for the training of people who embrace moral values in both their professional and non-professional life and who abide by ethical principles.
  • An education and training approach suitable for cooperation with world universities. Erasmus and abroad internship opportunities are important in this sense.

2. Our Values

As Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry, we have formed our education policy in the light of the following values:

  • An understanding based on the values determined throughout Üsküdar University.
  • Reinforcing respect for general human values,
  • Strengthening the love of country,
  • Paying attention to objectivity in science,
  • Treating all people equally without discrimination of race, gender, ethnicity, language, religion, etc.
  • Not compromising democratic understanding, based on democratic understanding, distribution of authority and participation in administration,
  • Student-oriented, adopting student satisfaction as a basic principle,
  • An approach that respects employee rights and protects all personal rights,
  • An approach that provides an environment for the university personnel (academic and administrative) to work safely and in peace.

3. Our Main Strategy

Goals on increasing education quality 

ÜDHF (Üsküdar University Dentistry Faculty) is on the top 18 within 32 foundation university. Our goals are to make ÜDHF rank on the top 5 within 3 years. The reinforcement will be provided by the unique and pioneer role of our faculty. The goals below that is determined to sustain the originality that is realized since the foundation of ÜDHF and the first semester, are as follows:

  • In order to provide sustainability of originality of education program, an action plan will be prepared to get periodically education outcomes and to ensure the sustainability of the program with the contribution of these outcomes according to the quality goals by the Faculty Secretariat.
  • Periodic survey studies will be carried out in order to obtain education outcomes of Basic Medicine carried out together with the Faculty of Medicine as it is carried out in the Basic Art Education course. An action plan will be prepared to support the outcome within the program and to provide continuous development.
  • One the dimension that contributes to the originality of the ÜDHF education program is humanities disciplines. An action plan will be carried out to benefit more effectively from the accumulation of our university’s humanities discipline. Within this context, channels that will increase information flow will be created to benefit more from the related instutions in order to enhance the program content.

Research Development and Project Goals

  • An R&D study will be carried out in order to meet the facilities of our university with global fonds and topics to determine the goals that will create the academic identity of the ÜDHF
  • To determine the topics and international partners on the topics based on our academic identity and to contact with the determined international partners
  • To follow Preclinical Education Model that has been launched and to create intermediate input
  • To do a literature review of the exemplary course books to collect written and visual material on the content of the content of art education course book by the Faculty of Dentistry
  • An action plan will be carried out to evaluate the obtained outcomes in order to increase the effectiveness of the preclinical education and to provide sustainability of our education model by realizing the solution suggestions to enhance the model.

Our Faculty Goals

  • Our request to provide the conditions to establish and the doctorate program by starting immediately with the main fields (prosthetics, surgical, orthodontics) will be submitted to the executives.
  • Works will be begun to establish of Jaw, Face Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Association centered in the Üsküdar University under the chairpersonship of Prof. Banu KARAYAZGAN by Dentists, plastic surgeons, medical designers, imaging specialists, medical 3D software developers.
  • The Supreme Council will be informed on the structing Works for the suitability of the service by our Oral and Dental Health Application Center and support of the Council will be demanded.

4. Quality Culture

Quality is firstly a culture and in order to establish this culture, the system must be created very effectively and the operation must be sustained.

 5. PUKO (Plan, Apply, Check, Take Measures) Cycle

Quality Assurance System within the Faculty is operated within the framework of PUKO (Plan, Apply, Check, Take Measures) Cycle. Education and training goals based on the determined objectives and targets are inspected in terms of implementation, and measures are taken to improve areas seen necessary.

6Internalization

One of the assurance elements on our quality policy is the internalization of our quality policy and strategies by our internal stakeholders. Academic studies by our academic staff is recorded with FTA system. The stages in our learning outcomes of our students, which are student’s learning performance, student’s performance outside of the university, homework, reading project, etc., are internalized outcomes of our quality policy.

7. Stakeholders and Sharing

Meetings of the Department and Academic Council, and Orientation meetings for students are held in the beginning of every academic year in order for internal stakeholders to join and contribute to the quality assurance system.

8. Monitoring and Improvement Process

 The compatibility of our faculty’s mission, vising, strategical goals and performance indicators with the quality assurance system is monitored with annual reports according to external process and the strategic plan (See: Activity Reports, Academic Performance Report, Student Satisfaction Survey, Stakeholder Sharing Surveys) an
